8 SIDE HUSTLE IDEAS FROM YOUR PHONE IN 2024
Side hustle cannot make you Billionaire, but it gives you extra income and would be a great way to become financially independent if you are a student. So, let’s get started.!
Become a Field Agent
Do you know what Field Agent is? if you don’t know, no problem. Field Agent is an app that you can use to help big brands and retailers do in-store price checks. Now question is that how will you get money? They will pay you for helping them out.
The guideline for doing this:
- Just download the app.
- pick up one of the stores they need someone to go to.
- Then go to the shop and take some of the pictures they ask for.
- Upload the picture to the app.
- Finally get paid sound simple!
By doing this, you can make $2- $10 each gig. So, if you can do several times at a same shop, it would be better for you.
Now, question can come on your mind that why Field Agent pays for people.
Because brands want to make sure their product is being properly displayed in stores and is priced correctly. Especially if their products are being sold across the country, it’s important that everything is consistent.
It’s just like a win-win situation for everyone, isn’t it?
Pet Sitting
Pet Sitting is one of my favorites side hustles. if you love hanging out with pets and want to earn bit of cash as well. Go straight way to Rover.
This is a mobile app which helps you find pet sitters and dog-walks that live in your area.
Mostly you going to get paid around $15-$30 dollars, but it also depends on your experience.
Someone who did this is Regan Riley. She was a senior in college and wanted another source of income, so she started pet sitting on Rover. It took her a little while to start getting clients, but now she makes $400+ bucks a month! Learn more about her experience in this video:
If you are interested in starting pet sitting with Rover, you can also get Rover business cards.
- Hand them out to people walking their dogs in your neighborhood
- Drop some off at a local pet store
- Leave them at pet-friendly apartment buildings in your area
- Go network at dog parks
Note: We only recommend starting a side hustle like this if you’re comfortable/familiar with pets as these critters’ safety is a top priority.
Charge Electric Scooters
You might see the Electric Scooters, mightn’t you? This is the one of the fastest growing startup in the world. You can get around $3 — $5 to put charging stations.
The best part about this side hustle is that it’s super simple — you just need to collect the scooters and put them back in charging stations!
TastRabbit
TaskRabbit is a website/app that connects users with local contractors from hundreds of different fields. Most of them are pretty hands-on work like cleaning, delivery, furniture assembly, yard work, or minor home repairs.
What kind of work can you do on TaskRabbit?
- Build furniture
- Mow lawns
- Help people move
- Grocery shop for people
- Paint people’s walls
And so much more!
This is a great option compared to some other on-demand apps because you don’t need a car, and you don’t have to expense things like gas. You can also set your own hourly rate and you can customize your profile to make it more personal and on-brand.
Jeremy from the OkDork team tried out TaskRabbit to earn some extra cash while he was in college, and ended up making $35-$40/hour plus tips doing moving jobs! Not too bad for a college student picking up gigs between classes.
Another reason why TaskRabbit is great?
They’re a big platform that already has customers coming to it.
If you want to start a business-like car-washing or home repairs, you should start it on TaskRabbit to get customers, do excellent work, and then ask your clients for referrals or see if you can start getting work off the platform as you start to make a name for yourself.
Food Delivery
Foot Delivery is another way of earning money. It is become very common in very country. The online food delivery industry is worth billions of dollars, and plenty of people are doing it as a side hustle.
Rent Yours Stuff
If you have an extra room or garage at home, rent it out on Airbnb. That’s an extra $1000/month right there.
If you have a car that you are only driving two times a week because you switched to remote work, rent it out on Turo.
If you have an extra bike that you are not using, rent it out on Spinlister.
Other ideas for things you can rent out:
- Gym equipment
- Drones
- Musical instruments
- Sewing machines
- Camera gear/filming equipment
- Drones
- Home repair tools/lawn care equipment
You can also post the things you want to rent on places like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist (just keep in mind that there’s no insurance through those platforms so you’d have to rely 100% on trust).
All these things can be pretty pricey to buy, and they’re things people may not need all the time, so lots of people may look to rent them. It’s a great way to recoup the cost of items you already own!
Flipping Arbitrage
What happens when a local retail store has too much inventory and wants to get rid of it fast?
They go on the clearance rack.
You can then go to the clearance rack, purchase items, and then sell them for more money than you paid for on platforms like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or eBay.
This is known as retail arbitrage.
Retail arbitrage is the act of buying heavily discounted items from clearance racks and then reselling them online.
The most straightforward way to do this is to download the Amazon Seller app. It allows you to scan a product’s barcode, and tells you the price it is selling for on Amazon.
Ryan Grant, a 32-year-old entrepreneur, has been doing this since 2013, and his retail arbitrage business earns him over 2 million dollars a year. He would buy items like doorknob locks or golf pitching machines at Walmart and Target, then sell them on Amazon using the Amazon Seller App.
Flip things you have expertise in and understand. Or go spend time developing the expertise to understand the things you are thinking about flipping. Developing expertise is the hard part, but once you do and you are willing to hustle, then you can make from $50,000-$100,000 doing this full time.
Another way to flip items is to go to garage sales, flea markets, or even ask your friends and family for stuff they want to get rid of and flip their things for money.
The cheaper you can get the item and the more you sell it for = a bigger win for you!
You can do consulting.
If you have a day job, you probably have some industry knowledge that can be valuable to someone else. Believe it or not, there are probably people that would pay you $100+ to hop on a phone call and share your expert advice on a topic you’re knowledgeable about.
Like David Kelly, the general manager of our AppSumo Originals team! He consults as a side hustle and he charges people $200/hr to get his expert advice on startup marketing.
Our advice:
- Look for clients in your own networks first
- Ask for referrals
- Finding people to help out for free first using Facebook groups, Slack groups, LinkedIn, social media, or whatever platform your potential clients could be on
- And then start charging people as you get more clients!
To start booking clients, use TidyCal. It’s the simplest way to book and schedule meetings and it can integrate with Zoom, Paypal, Stripe, and Google Calendar. You can get started with the basic version for FREE, but for a one-time price of $19.00, you can charge people to book meetings with you.
Have a good luck for you and start your own side hustle!!!
